Shake Rattle and Roll ............
(To see this email in all its animated and
colour glory please set your email to html)
Welcome to our latest newsletter about the Vibration &
Environmental test world in addition to the latest
information from m+p international.
End of Year
Reminder..............
As we approach the end of 2002 I thought it would be a
good time to pull together all the various mailings and
announcements into a summary of the range of products
now available from m+p international.
Vibration Control - Still
a very strong element of our business. With probably
the most powerful base system available on the market
and expandable to hundreds of input channels, 12.8kHz
frequency range in Random and Sine, 3200 lines of
resolution in Random, both as standard. Powerful post
test analysis and report generation, test feasibility
for pre-test checks of acceleration, velocity,
displacement and force requirements from the shaker. All
the vibration modes available, SRS, Sine-on-Random,
Random-on-Random, Sine-on-Random-on-Random, Classical
Shock, Sine, Random, Resonance Search & Dwell with Phase
or amplitude tracking, Limit lines, Notching, test
sequencing and Email/SMS text messaging on test abort or
completion.
Time Replication/Roadload -
Still part of vibration control, but this package is the
ultimate for testing your products in a true
environment, . With full pre-test file editing of the
raw time history; apply filters; edit points; edit
overall level; view acceleration, velocity,
displacement, fft, psd of the time history; cut & paste
signals. Now also with PSD export to VibControl. Real
time update of system control during the run with no
limit on length of test. Ability to loop, repeat, save
signals during runs.
SmartOffice, Noise & Vibration Analysis
- The growth and interest in this product has
been amazing this year, now there is a real alternative
to the other noise and vibration analysis systems that
have been in the market for many years. Fully
compatible with Agilent, National Instruments, TEAC,
OROS and other hardware front ends, this software can
fit into any application of any size. With Active graph
& animation export to Word and PowerPoint, SDOF & MDOF
modal analysis software, Online and Post processing of
rotating machinery analysis, with order tracking & RPM
spectral maps, Octave analysis, MIMO, Impact hammer
testing, ODS, Geometry creation, Sine reduction, Random
reduction, SRS analysis, User programming, Import of
over 20 data types and powerful active X report
generation.
TempControl - Ever wanted to
link all those humidity and temperature chambers to one
PC for setting up of tests and also for independent
logging of temperatures and humidity, well now you can.
TempControl was released this year and can be used to
control literally any chamber, this alongside the
independent logging of the test specimen temperatures
makes this a great addition to lab facilities. Fully
modular for the simple to complex installation.
Transient Capture - Part of
our Shock testing software, Transient Capture now allows
you to not only capture your transients from drop test
rigs or other shock tests but it also allows you to
overlay your reference graphs of tolerance and abort
limits with full linear movement of the reference to
match the transient time base. No more printing off the
transients and overlaying a clear projector slide with
your tolerance graph's on, yes we know how its done!!
Acoustic Control - Digital
Acoustic Control System for Reverberation Chambers.
Fully automated closed-loop digital acoustic control,
True continuous time domain octave analysis, powerful
VXI platform, comprehensive 2D and 3D post-test analysis
and reporting. No more large racks of hardware and
manually set sliders, the Acoustic Control software
performs all the tasks for full digital control,
providing unrivalled repeatability, unlimited
microphones, automatic detection of bad microphones,
20Hz to 10kHz frequency range and full PC based
reporting.
The new m+p international
forum..........
We have started this forum as an opportunity for
engineers from any company in any of the many vibration
testing disciplines to put their questions and indeed to
answer other peoples questions about any problem or
query.
Here is your chance to be the Guru!, there
are many engineers out there with years of practical
experience, here is the ideal way of accessing their
knowledge and getting the much needed help that I'm sure
many would appreciate.
In addition we will be using the forum to
announce news and items of interest in the vibration
testing world, why not log in and check it out.
There is also a section for SmartOffice users,
our Noise and Vibration analysis software, to pass on
tips and user programs.
Technical
Titbits......................
A good one this month and one we have the ultimate answer
to............ MODAL ANALYSIS !!!!
What is it ............? How do I use
it............? What can it tell me..............?
Modal analysis involves exciting a structure either
continuously using shakers or by the use of transients,
eg: by striking the structure with a hammer.
In both cases, the applied force is measured using a
force transducer and the response of the test structure is
measured using accelerometers. It is the relationship
between the applied force and the structural response that
is the key to modal analysis. These relationships are
calculated as functions of frequency in terms of
magnitude, phase and coherence.
A process of curve fitting theoretical responses of
single or multiple degrees of freedom systems can then
extract the required structural parameters from the
measured data.
If that didn't help and I'm sure for many it was
complete rubbish, then try a few of these links for a
little more help and detail.

Seminar on
MODAL Analysis and Test Simulation...........
Less than 2 months to go with
Christmas in the middle, now is a good time to book!
m+p international are holding a one day
seminar on January 22, 2003, the two main
topics of this seminar are Signal
acquisition & Modal analysis and Laboratory Test
Simulation. It is being held at
Loughborough University's new Wolfson School facility and
will include a buffet lunch and refreshments.
The seminar will move from the basic techniques and
theories through practical demonstrations and discussion
about suggested test approaches for both MODAL analysis
and Simulation.
We have engineers and academics from the UK,
Belgium and Germany ready to provide an
informative and interactive day's presentations.
Aimed at engineers who are involved in either one or both
of these fields at any level or at those who have a new
requirement to move into one of these areas.
The cost of the day will be £95 and this includes lunch,
refreshments and full course notes. Payment with booking!!
An ideal opportunity to access a wealth of knowledge from
those who know the maths and others who have years of
practical test experience and indeed those who know both
!!
The places for this seminar are limited, please book now
to ensure you do not miss out on a unique opportunity.
