Welcome to our latest newsletter about the Vibration &
Environmental test world in addition to the latest information
from m+p international.
Its been a very busy month for us and I'm sure for many
engineers who have been working hard to cover the gaps left by
holiday bound colleagues, unfortunately the work doesn't stop
rolling in during the long summer break. Several new things
have happened since our last update so read on to catch
up............
Free Draw Winner - Congratulations
As I'm sure you all know we held a free draw, during June and
July, to win one of the latest Palm m515 hand held computers.
The response was nothing short of amazing with well over 140
names being entered into the 'hat' (we did notice several
duplicate, triplicate and more entries, but we'll let you off
this time....). Of course there can only be one winner and this
was Mark Brady from MIRA's new facility in Basildon,
congratulations to him and may he have many fun hours filling
the PC with all sorts of useful info.
Seminar on
MODAL Analysis and Test Simulation
m+p international are holding a one day seminar
on January 22, 2003, the two main topics of
this seminar are Signal acquisition & Modal
analysis and Laboratory Test Simulation. It is
being held at Loughborough University's new Wolfson School
facility and will include a buffet lunch and refreshments.
The seminar will move from the basic techniques and theories
through practical demonstrations and discussion about suggested
test approaches for both MODAL analysis and Simulation.
We have engineers and academics from the UK, Belgium and
Germany ready to provide an informative and interactive
day's presentations.
Aimed at engineers who are involved in either one or both of
these fields at any level or at those who have a new requirement
to move into one of these areas.
The cost of the day will be £95 and this includes lunch,
refreshments and full course notes. Payment with booking!!
An ideal opportunity to access a wealth of knowledge from those
who know the maths and others who have years of practical test
experience and indeed those who know both !!
The places for this seminar are limited, please book now to
ensure you do not miss out on a unique opportunity. For more
details or to book your place please contact Neill Ovenden on

Interest in modelling and FE? Read on ...
NAFEMS have recently launched
a news letter with the slogan "We are aiming to make e-lementary
the top source of information for the Engineering Analysis
Community, giving you news, useful links, and features on
upcoming events and publications within the engineering
world." For
example this issue has information on FE fatigue analysis and
non-linear FE techniques. Check
out their web site at

EIS - Dates for your diary
The annual EIS "Simulation,
Test & Measurement Conference" is being held this year at the
Jaguar Cars visitor centre (just off the J5/M6) in Castle
Bromwich, Birmingham on the 14th and 15th of October. To
register for the conference contact Catherine Pinder on 0114
262 1155 or visit
www.e-i-s.org.uk for more info.
The free exhibition brings
together a wide range of specialist data acquisition, test and
analysis companies so it's well worth a visit. We hope to see
you there.
A little later on is the EIS
"Achievements in Noise and Vibration" conference at the
Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Coventry. This is on Thursday
7th of November. Same
contact details as above.
Further a field....
Don't miss the
ISMA2002 International Conference
on Noise and Vibration Engineering, September 16-18,
2002 at the KU in the beautiful city of Leuven
in Belgium. See
http://www.isma-isaac.be/fut_conf/default_en.phtml for
all the details and associated courses available that week.
Leuven is also the home of one of our offices so please let
us know if you are attending, we would love to have you
visit ... and we may even have to introduce you to one or
two of the local liquid specialities too!

Interesting Websites.......
We have found several more websites that
may be of interest to you or a colleague - don't keep them
secret, pass them around ...
These
pages have some great practical information on Random
vibration testing from the basic equations to creating test
profiles. They are from work done at the Goddard Space
Flight Centre by Ryan Simmons.
Of course the best is still
www.mpiuk.co.uk
download our VibSliderule and a demo
version of our SmartOffice e-reporter software.
Thought for the day ........

waist begin to change places.' - E.Joseph Cossman.

Well that brings to a close
this edition of Shake Rattle and Roll, if there are items of
info you would like to see here or if you have useful tips
for the rest of the environmental test world then please
send us your pointers and we'll include them in the next
edition.
