Shake Rattle and Roll ............

Welcome to the latest edition of Shake, Rattle and Roll.  A mixed bag this month but, as always, every bit of it fascinating... and well worth reading as there is a free Palm m515 on offer this month,   read on to find out more...................

Before we get stuck in, a quick thanks to all the recent positive comments about the newsletter, it is appreciated, keep them coming.

New tool for all .... First off,....... a very powerful new tool from m+p.  Our latest Time History/RoadLoad Data editor has developed into a software application that goes beyond just RoadLoad applications and into the realms of Random vibration testing.  In addition to importing raw time history files of any length and providing tools for band pass filtering, point editing, tapering, cut and paste of signals, viewing acceleration, velocity and displacement traces, we now provide the facility to view the FFT of a Time history and also a PSD of either the whole data stream or a selected section.  The PSD can then be exported to your vibration controller using a standard text file, for testing under Random Vibration Control.  This package is now available as a stand alone software application and does not need any hardware, so can be used by everyone.  For more details email me directly: sales.uk@mpihome.com

Ever wondered what Acoustic Chambers are all about? You may remember from the last newsletter about our introduction to one of our new products, Acoustic Control.  This is the method of vibration testing using noise as the vibration generator.  Well for more information about this fascinating technique, Tom Irvine's latest news letter, http://www.vibrationdata.com/Newsletters/May2002_NL.pdf , gives an interesting overview of acoustic chamber testing applications and practice. Tom is a well know vibration guru and his site is well worth checking out too.

More information about TempControl...... Another item from the last Shake Rattle and Roll was the introduction of TempControl, our complete environmental chamber control and management software.  There is a little more about this on our website so please visit http://www.mpiuk.co.uk/tc.htm , if this is of interest please do let me know as we will have literature available about the full specification and flexibility of this software from early July 2002

VXI - where is this highly successful standard heading? As you know our vibration and data acquisition high end systems currently rely on the excellent performance of the Agilent VXI front-ends. This instrumentation standard has been around for while now and other emerging technologies such as NI's PXI may appear to be taking over. The following document by the VXI consortium puts the current situation into perspective and suggests there's plenty of life in the old dog yet!

In addition to this document, if you would like to get a further insight to this question, Agilent have a short seminar on the topic and if you would like to arrange to hear this either at your own site or at Agilent's HQ then just let us know  mailto:sales.uk@mpihome.com

Agilent choose m+p to upgrade their HP3565.
This statement was taken from the latest Agilent DAQ news letter, even more life in the old dog!

****'  Agilent Lake Stevens Site Upgrades Vibration Control System '****

Agilent manufacturing upgraded their old 3565A LMS based Vibration Control System to a VXI based system from m+p. The new windows based VibRunner System makes it easy to support the full suite of Agilent's commercial test specs. The ability to run other internally developed matlab & VB analysis software on the same VXI hardware made the upgrade a double bonus for Agilent design Engineers.
Contact your local Agilent or m+p sales office for more information. mailto:sales.uk@mpihome.com

To subscribe to the Agilent DAQ news letter send an email to agilent-data-acq@agilent.com

By the way don't forget that our VibControl family will also drive the HP3565 front-end if you would like a low cost upgrade from the LMS UNIX world to a PC based system. Just think of how much simpler reporting will be ...

FREEBIE !!...... Now for the Freebie news.  m+p international UK are holding a free draw to win one of the brand new Palm m515 hand held colour computers.
